Colorado School of Mines: Shelly Johnson has resigned her position as
the Head Volleyball Coach at Colorado School of Mines, as announced by Director
of Athletics Tom Spicer. Johnson’s resignation, effective December 31st, 2007,
comes after guiding the Orediggers to a 65-80 overall record during the past
five seasons (2003-07). The fourth head coach in the 32-year history of Mines
volleyball, Johnson is relocating to California with her family to pursue other

Penn State: Colin McMillan has been named an
assistant coach for the Penn State men’s volleyball program, head coach Mark

Georgia Tech: Head coach Bond Shymansky has
received a new three-year contract that runs through the end of the 2009 season,

Whitman: Carolyn Papineau, a veteran coach
with experience in the college, high school and club ranks, is the new women’s
volleyball coach at Whitman College. Papineau, who played volleyball at both the
University of Washington and University of Puget Sound, replaces Dean Snider as

Western Kentucky: Ashly Miller has been named
the new assistant coach with the Lady Topper program. Miller replaces Natalie
Sutimek, who left after five seasons as an assistant to become the head coach at
Normal (Ill.) Community High School. Miller, a former Western Kentucky
University volleyball standout and member of four Sun Belt Conference East
Division championship teams from 2001-04, will be responsible for scouting
opponents, film exchange and team travel. She will also serve as assistant

Montclair State: The Montclair State
Department of Athletics has announced the hiring of Elise Cooper as the new head
women’s volleyball coach. Cooper becomes the first full-time head coach in the
history of the program, which began in 1989, and fifth overall. Cooper comes to
Montclair State from College of St. Benedict in Minnesota where she served as an

Alabama A&M: Nedra Brown has been hired by Alabama A&M University as head
volleyball coach, director of athletics Betty Austin announced. Brown replaces
Austin who held the position for 30 years before being elevated from interim

stints at Kentucky State and LeMoyne-Owen and has compiled a 119-105 career

Wisconsin-Eau Claire: Kim Wudi has been
selected to replace Lisa Herb as the head coach of the UW-Eau Claire women's

a Blugold player and has been the director of the Eau Claire Air Volleyball Club

South Carolina: South Carolina: Head
volleyball coach Nancy Somera announced Thursday she is stepping down as head
coach of the University of South Carolina program. Her husband and current
associate head coach Ben Somera will take over the head coaching duties. Nancy
came to South Carolina in February 2005 after serving as head coach at Oregon
State for six seasons. The Gamecocks posted a 13-14 record in her first season
and finished at 15-17 last year, including an 8-12 mark in Southeastern

Rutgers-Newark: Karl France has been named
the coordinator of volleyball operations and head men's volleyball coach at
Rutgers-Newark, director of athletics Mark Griffin has announced. The Brooklyn
native knows the Rutgers-Newark program and its EIVA competitors well, having
served as the assistant men's volleyball coach at New York University for the

CSU Monterey Bay: Jody Garry, most recently
an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Washington State University
(2004-2006), has been named the CSU Monterey Bay Volleyball interim head coach
for 2007. Garry has a decade of coaching experience at the Club, Junior College,
Division II and Division I levels. Prior to coaching at Washington State, Garry
was the top assistant and recruiting coordinator at Idaho State University
(2003) and the University of South Dakota (2002). She spent one season as an

Director Steve Pederson announced this week that Nebraska volleyball coach John
Cook has signed a five-year contract extension. Cook, who has guided the Husker
volleyball program to a 220-14 record, a pair of NCAA titles (2000 and 2006),
four NCAA Final Fours and six Big 12 titles in his seven seasons at Nebraska,

volleyball coach Liz Underwood has accepted a teaching/coaching position at
Lee-Scott Academy in Auburn. Underwood was the head coach at Auburn from 1992
until 1997 and compiled a 99-81 record for a .550 winning percentage. In 1996,
she guided the Tigers to their only SEC West Championship to date, and her 99

Appalachian State: Matt Ginipro has been
named head coach of the Appalachian State University volleyball program, ASU
Athletics Director Charlie Cobb announced Wednesday. Ginipro comes to the
Mountaineer program after serving as the first assistant coach and recruiting
coordinator at the University of Virginia the past six years. In March of 2007,
he was promoted to associate head coach at Virginia. He replaces Chad Callihan.

Hamline: Head Volleyball Coach Gina Rollie has resigned, university
officials announced. Rollie led the Hamline Pipers for the past four seasons,
posting a record of 53-56. In 2006, Hamline finished 17-10, 6-5 and fifth in the
MIAC, its best finish in 12 seasons. Hamline earned an MIAC playoff berth for
the first time since the conference moved to a six-team format in 2001. For her

Denison: Lynsey Pyle has been named the new
head women's volleyball coach at Denison University. Pyle, 1999 graduate of
Capital University, has served as the assistant volleyball and assistant

BYU: Ryan Millar has announced that he will return to the U.S. National team
and professional volleyball and will not pursue the vacant men's volleyball head
coaching position at BYU. Millar, who served alongside Shawn Patchell as interim

four-year playing career (1996-99) for the Cougars. Millar is currently training

Felician: Alan Clements of Fair Lawn has been
named the head women’s volleyball coach at Felician College, director of
athletics Ben DiNallo Jr. announced. Clements comes to Felician after one

Athletic Director Kathleen McNally announced on Monday, April 2, the selection
of Dr. Bruce Atkinson as the new Vulcans women's volleyball coach, effectively
immediately. Atkinson comes to the UH Hilo from the University of Texas at
Brownsville where he started the women's program this past season. As head
coach, he guided the program to a 28-11 record and came within one game of

Texas-Pan American: Announced on Friday, Mar. 23, that Angela Hubbard has
been hired as the head women's volleyball coach for the Texas-Pan American Lady Broncs. Hubbard comes to the Rio Grande Valley from Nicholls State University, a

Felician College, announced that the contract of head women’s volleyball coach
Nichole Jones will not be renewed. Jones was the coach of the inaugural Felician
volleyball team in 2004. She guided the Golden Falcons through their first three
seasons, picking up three victories. Before coming to Felician, she was a

Herb has announced her retirement from coaching after 22 seasons at UW-Eau Claire

in her 22 years at Eau Claire and coached 1,086 career matches in 28 years,

Southwest Minnesota State: Interim director
of athletics Chris Hmielewski announced on Tuesday (March 6, 2007) that
volleyball head coach Terry Culhane has been awarded a four-year contract
extension through the 2010 season. During his three seasons as head coach,
Culhane has directed the Mustangs to an overall record of 75-27, including 34-12
in Northern Sun Conference matches, and three NCAA tournament appearances.

Cyndy Gray as head volleyball coach of William Penn University. Gray, who has
spent her entire head coaching career at the high school level, most recently at

winning seasons. She is is 15th on the Iowa volleyball high school coaching list

coach. Redding comes to Charlotte after four seasons as an assistant with the

Felician: Rich Szura of Hewitt has been named
the assistant women’s volleyball coach at Felician College, head coach Alan
Clements announced. Szura was inducted into the Fair Lawn High School athletic
Hall of Fame following a successful 10-year run coaching the Cutters’ boys and
girls’ teams. From 1991-2000 he posted a 214-44 (.829) boys’ record.On
the girls’ side, Szura won two league titles in nine years at Fair Lawn and two

Bentley: Karrin Moore, a 2006 graduate of
Northeastern University, has been named an assistant women’s volleyball coach at
Bentley, head coach Sandy Hoffman announced. Moore, a four-year letterwinner at
Northeastern (2001-04), comes to Bentley after a year as an assistant coach at
Wheaton College. Prior to her stint with the Lyons, she was an assistant for the
Northeastern men’s club team, which finished second in the nation in 2005.

Manhattanville: First-year Head Coach
Elizabeth Ching-Bush announced the hiring of 2007 Manhattanville graduate Casey
Killard as Assistant Coach. Killard joins the volleyball staff and will assist

High School on Long Island, Killard was a two-time All-Conference selection in

that assistant coach Jil Thomason has been promoted to Associate Head Coach at
Colorado. Thomason begins her eighth season as Colorado's top assistant and

Georgia State: After concluding a four-year
playing career at Georgia State, Christen Garcia has been named State's new
full-time assistant coach for volleyball, Head Coach Mike Webster announced.
Garcia is the program’s career record holder in digs with 1,631 and the only

Edwardsville volleyball program. She replaces Katie Gilman, who stepped down to

College in De Pere, Wis., where she was a collegiate player. She previously was

Arkansas: Gokhan Yilmaz joined the University
of Arkansas volleyball staff as an assistant coach, head coach Chris Poole
announced recently. He replaces Jenny Wilson who resigned in May to pursue a
career in the medical field. Yilmaz is not new to the Arkansas program as he
joins in a full-time position this year. His first exposure to Arkansas came in
the spring of 2005 when he worked with the Lady Razorbacks as a volunteer coach.

first-year head volleyball coach Jozsef Forman has announced that Kallie Noble
will join his staff for the 2007 season. Noble comes to New Orleans after a year
as an assistant at Lincoln Memorial University under head coach Mike Smith.
Noble just finished her first year of coaching at the collegiate level at
Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tenn., helping the Railsplitters to a

Simpson: The athletics department at Simpson College has announced the
hiring of Becca Carstensen as assistant volleyball coach. Carstensen earned
third team All-American honors for UW-Eau Claire as a senior. She also earned
All-Conference honors as junior and as a senior for the Blugolds. As a senior,
Carstensen was named WIAC Co-Scholar Athlete of the Year. Cartensen will also

NC State: Kasey Harwell has joined head coach
Charita J. Stubbs as an assistant coach on the Wolfpack volleyball staff
announced the NC State athletics department. A 2007 graduate of the University
of Arizona, Harwell competed with the Club Cactus Juniors program between
1999-2002 and continued with the Arizona men's club team between 2002-05. He
served as an assistant for both men's and women's varsity squads at Salpointe
High between 2002-07, while also assisting with the Club Cactus Juniors Boy's
18's. In addition to serving as a volunteer assistant for the Arizona women's
team from 2006-07, he also helped with the Arizona women's club team and the

Virginia: Melissa Aldrich Shelton, Virginia head volleyball coach,
announced Friday that Ken Murczek has been hired as an assistant coach for the
Cavaliers. He will begin his duties July 27. Murczek spent the past two seasons

instrumental in match preparation and training strategies in addition to

announced the hiring of Lacee Koelliker, who has spent the past four seasons as

first Wolverine at the NCAA level to surpass 4,000 career assists. Lee is
entering his first season back at Utah Valley, where he was a volunteer

UCLA: Kim Jagd, who has been the Bruins assistant coach for 14 years, has
been promoted to assistant head coach of the UCLA women's volleyball program

During her tenure with the Bruins, Jagd has coached four Olympians including
2000 beach volleyball Olympians Jenny (Johnson) Jordan and Annett Buckner Davis

Furman University in Greenville, S.C., where he worked as an assistant coach and

coach Chad Callihan has been named assistant volleyball coach at the University
of Georgia, UGA head coach Joel McCartney announced. Callihan spent four years

Brenda Winkeler announced Kyle Walton as a new assistant coach for Southern
Illinois for the 2007 season, replacing Katie Noble who accepted a position as
an assistant at Tennessee. Walton will take the position as the second assistant
coach behind second-year assistant Julie Yankus. Prior to accepting the position
at SIU, Walton spent one season at the University of Southern Indiana, as an

Ball State: Marci Peniata, who spent the past four
seasons as a member of the Minnesota women's volleyball team, has been named the
second assistant coach for the Ball State women's volleyball team, according to
first-year head coach Dave Boos. Peniata finished her four-year career at
Minnesota (2003-06) ranked second on the school's all-time career digs list at
1,401. After collecting the seventh-best single-season dig total in school
history last season (532), Peniata earned recognition on the American Volleyball
Coaches Association All-America Honorable Mention team and was named the Big Ten

Lytle-Wilson has been named to the Tiger staff as an assistant coach, it was
announced by head coach Fran Flory on Monday. Lytle-Wilson spent last season as
an assistant with Wake Forest, leading them to a tie for their most wins in the
Atlantic Coast Conference in school history. Prior to that, she was an assistant

Wright State: Head coach Trina Smith
announced Nels Rydberg has been named the new assistant volleyball coach at
Wright State University. Rydberg has served as an assistant coach at several
Division I schools including Arkansas State, Oregon and Cal Poly. A police
officer in Pismo Beach, California the last three years, Rydberg was most
recently at Arkansas State as an assistant to current head coach Craig Cummings

hiring of Lizzy Stemke as assistant coach. Stemke comes to Nebraska from

Illinios State: Associate head volleyball
coach Jenny Fuente stepped down from her post Friday, Feb. 16, after serving
four years on head coach Sharon Dingman's staff. Fuente will move to Fort Worth,

Oklahoma: Head volleyball coach Santiago
Restrepo announced the hiring of Sam Ojie (pronounced O-jay) to the position of
assistant coach on Wednesday. Ojie joins the Sooners after spending eight years
as an assistant at Georgia (2006), Central Florida (2004-05) and Tulane
(1999-2003). Additionally, Ojie brings strong playing experience after playing
seven years of professional volleyball in Africa and Europe.

Alabama: Judy Green, head coach of the
University of Alabama, announced that Ben Boldt, a member of the 2006 NCAA
Champion Nebraska Cornhusker volleyball staff, has joined the Tide as her
assistant coach for the 2007 season. Boldt, who was with the Huskers for the
past six seasons, replaces former assistant coach Chris Redding, who left the
Tide in January to become the head coach at North Carolina-Charlotte. (posted

Marshall: Head Coach Mitch Jacobs announced the hiring of Patrick
Nicholas as assistant coach. Nicholas brings with him 23 years of coaching
experience, including three collegiate head coaching duties, as well as

Nebraska: University of Nebraska assistant volleyball coach Charlene Johnson-Tagaloa
announced Monday that she is resigning her position with the Husker volleyball
program. Johnson-Tagaloa, whose last day at Nebraska was Feb. 28, said the
opportunity to work out of her home so that she will have more time with her

Minnesota: Dave Manka has been tapped to fill the University of Minnesota's
vacant assistant coaching position according to an announcement by head coach
Mike Hebert on Friday, Jan. 26. Manka will assume primary recruiting

Illinois State: Laura Doornbos, one of the most prolific offensive players in
Redbird volleyball history, was hired as Illinois State's new assistant coach,

Minnesota: The University of Minnesota volleyball
program has promoted Scott Swanson to associate head coach according to an
announcement by head coach Mike Hebert on Monday, Jan. 8. Swanson will assume
the role of Technical Coordinator that David Boos recently vacated when he left
to become Ball State's head coach. With Swanson's promotion and Boos' departure,
the Golden Gophers have an open assistant coaching spot. Minnesota will fill

Illinois: Melissa David has joined the Illinois volleyball
staff as a graduate assistant. David, who was a co-captain at UW-Milwaukee last
season, will serve as a volunteer coach while pursuing a master’s degree in

recently announced the hiring of Courtney Winninger as director of operations at

USA Volleyball: Nebraska Head Assistant Coach
Lee Maes was selected as the head coach of the U.S. Women's Junior National A2
Team for next month's European Global Challenge in Pula, Croatia. The European
Global Challenge, which takes place from July 17-27, features some of the top
junior players in the world. It marks the second straight summer that Maes will
coach the U.S. Junior National A2 Team. In 2006, he led the squad to a gold
medal at the High Performance Championships in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Oklahoma: Oklahoma head volleyball coach Santiago Restrepo announced the
hiring of Nicki Green to the position of Director of Operations Thursday. Green
will serve in a slightly different position after spending her last three years
as an assistant coach at UNC Charlotte (2006) and Southern Miss (2004-05). Her
primary responsibilities will include handling all of OU’s team travel
arrangements while also assisting with on-campus recruiting, alumni contact,
booster development, summer camps and administrative duties. She will also serve
as Director of the Sooner Volleyball Club, a club program started in 2004.

USA Volleyball: Former Olympian Sue Woodstra
has been hired as an assistant coach for the U.S. Women’s National Volleyball
Team, USA Volleyball announced. She will begin her duties with Team USA on June
1 and will continue in that role through the 2008 Olympics. Woodstra has spent
the past five seasons as the head women’s volleyball coach at Humboldt State
University in Arcata, Calif. She will return as head coach of the Humboldt State
volleyball program in 2008 after the Olympics. In the meantime, Humboldt
Assistant Coach James Kealalio will continue working with the program in

Texas A&M: Kelly Stumph, Texas A&M Class of
2003, will be returning to Aggieland to serve as director of volleyball
operations, A&M volleyball coach Laurie Corbelli announced today. Stumph comes
to A&M after serving nearly three years as manager of awards and events support
at the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). She was responsible for
managing all aspects of the AVCA awards programs for both men's and women's
college volleyball players and coaches at the NCAA Division I, II and III
levels, as well as NAIA and Two-Year Colleges. Stumph also developed and
instituted the AVCA High School Senior All-America program. (posted

Indiana: Head coach Sherry Dunbar has announced the hiring of Amanda
Timmers as the Director of Volleyball Operations. Timmers will join the Hoosier

Bloomington-Normal Hall of Fame: Linda
Herman, former head volleyball coach at ISU from 1975-82, will be inducted into
the Bloomington-Normal Officials Association Hall of Fame on Friday, April 20,
2007. Herman led her team to the 1977 Elite Eight of the Association of
Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) national tournament. She also spent
more than 20 years as an administrator in the ISU athletic department, serving
as interim athletic director four times (1985, 1987, 1993 and 2003). (posted

USA Volleyball: USA Volleyball has announced
that John Speraw, head coach of UC Irvine's men's volleyball team, will also
serve as an assistant coach for the U.S. Men's Volleyball Team, based at the
American Sports Center in Anaheim, Calif. Speraw will continue to coach the
Anteaters, ranked No. 2 in the country in this week's CSTV/AVCA Division I-II
Men's Top 15 Coaches Poll, for the rest of the season before joining the U.S.
Men this summer. Speraw's assistant coaches at Irvine will help with recruiting

USA Volleyball Senior Select Team: Head
Women's Volleyball Coach Charlie Wade was named head coach of the Bring it
Promotions/USA Volleyball Federation Senior Select Team, which will travel to
Buenos Aires, Argentina to play the Argentinean National Team. The team will
leave May 21 and return June 1 after a series of matches throughout the country.

assistant coach Matt McShane has been selected as an assistant coach for USA

Ohio Valley Conference Officials: Michael
Blalock, who brings a wealth of experience as both a volleyball official and a
coordinator of officials, was named Coordinator of Volleyball Officiating for
the Ohio Valley Conference, as announced by Commissioner Dr. Jon A. Steinbrecher
on Wednesday. Blalock will be in charge of recruiting, training and developing
the OVC volleyball officials, as well as match selection and assignment and
evaluation of those officials and oversight of an officials’ observation

Deaf Sports Federations has announced the selection of Roger W. Worsley and Lynn
Ray Boren as head coaches of the USA Deaf Men's and Women's National Volleyball
teams. Worsley is currently the head coach of women's volleyball at Rochester
Institute of Technology, while Ray Boren currently coaches the women's
