Buffalo, NY - Captains senior Jonathan Wintermeyer and junior Devin Zolnowski both recorded double-digit kills as the New York University men's volleyball team combined to hit .406 for the match as the team defeated D'Youville College in straight games, Saturday, January 12, in Buffalo, New York.

The Violets (2-0), currently ranked #6 in the CSTV/AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association) Division III Men's Top 15 Coaches Poll, defeated the 8th-ranked Spartans (0-1) 30-23, 30-28, 30-22 in the first match of the 2008 Nickel City Classic.

Wintermeyer and Zolnowski both continued their strong starts to the 2008 season as Wintermeyer recorded 10 kills and hit a team-best .643 while Zolnowski recorded a team-best 12 kills along with four digs.

Also strong for NYU was junior setter Ilan Goldstein who recorded 44 assists, tying his personal best for a three-game match, while also recording four kills and hitting .667.

The Violets return to action tomorrow for the second day of the 2008 Nickel City Classic. The squad will face 13th-ranked Medaille College at 11:00 am and NCAA Division II Mt. Olive College at 2:30 p.m.
