four pools are named for former Commissioners of the SEC.
4/1/2008 -Gainesville, Fla. - The Commissioners Cup will be awarded to the institution which earns the most points in Pool Play at the Inaugural SEC Coaches Beach Volleyball Championships on April 12, 2008 in Gainesville, Florida. "As the conference celebrates its 75th Anniversary, we decided to honor past commissioners of the Southeastern Conference with the creation of this award" said Tom Collett, Tournament Co-Director.
In Pool Play, there are four different levels, or pools of competition. Each school will enter one beach doubles team into each pool. The four pools are named for former Commissioners of the SEC. (see below) Each team will earn points for their respective school in the Commissioners Cup competition, based on its record in its pool. The school with the most points at the end of pool play will be awarded the Cup. The Commissioners Cup is a diamond-shaped beveled-glass trophy in a black stand. Etched into the glass section of the trophy is the tournament logo. The trophy will be presented to the winning institution by SEC Associate Commissioner Debbie Corum.
