No. 3 West Texas A&M Drops Match to No. 16 Pittsburg State
PITTSBURG, Kans. - The No. 3-ranked Lady Buffs (16-3, 2-0 LSC) couldn't hold on against No. 16-ranked Pittsburg State as they dropped three sets to none with scores of 21-25, 21-25, and 22-25. This is only the third loss for the Lady Buffs this season.
Lady Buffs' freshman Leah Flatness was the only Lady Buff to tally double digit kills with 19-35 with a hitting percentage of .457, while the Gorillas had three players with 10 or more kills. The Lady Buffs defense was strong as the team totaled 60 digs, with four players with 10 or more digs including seniors Sara Contreras and Alyssa Bromwell, and juniors Laura Prinsen and Katie Rickwartz. Pitt State held the Lady Buffs to a team hitting percentage of .187 and put up 7.5 blocks to WT's two.
The Lady Buffs will face two more opponents Saturday to finish the Pittsburg State Classic, beginning with Missouri Southern at 10:00 a.m., followed by Central Missouri at 2:00 p.m.
