No. 24 Haverford Defeats Muhlenberg 3-1
ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Junior Rachel Salvo registered a team-best 16 kills to surpass 1,000 career kills and help the No. 24 Haverford College volleyball team to a 3-1 (25-21, 18-25, 25-16, 25-19) Centennial Conference victory over Muhlenberg College on Wednesday evening.
Salvo, the seventh player in school history to reach the benchmark, also added 12 digs and three blocks to complete her night. Twin sister Rebecca Salvo, who reached the 1,000 kills milestone in September, complimented her sister with 13 kills and a team-high 17 digs and five blocks. Kelsey Cantwell was the third Haverford (14-4, 2-1 CC) player with a double-double. She notched 10 kills and 12 digs. Kate Comey dished out 45 assists and recorded 10 digs and three services aces.
Muhlenberg's (11-6, 1-2 CC) Phylicia Lee led all players with 18 kills and added 12 digs. The Mules played stellar defense and had five players with at least 10 digs. Brittany Williams led the way with 24 and Christina Cangelosi added 20.
The Fords will be in action again on Saturday when they travel to Baltimore, Md. to take on Johns Hopkins University at 1 p.m.
