Texas A&M-Commerce No Match For No. 5 West Texas A&M

CANYON, Texas - WT volleyball was back in Canyon, taking on their fourth conference match of the season. The #5-ranked Lady Buffs (20-3, 4-0 LSC) swept the Texas A&M-Commerce Lions (12-7, 4-2 LSC) in three sets with scores of 25-18, 25-22, and 25-19.

Lady Buffs junior middle blocker Melissa Harper led the team in kills and hitting percentage with 16-26 (.538) and also contributed one block assist.  Laura Prinsen tallied 12 kills and two assisted blocks and Ashley Dyer totaled five kills and led the team in blocks with three block assists out of a team total five blocks. Sophomore Teresa Dunn talllied two service aces, earning one of those aces in the last point of the match.

"We played well at times and were fortunate enough to get points when we needed them," said head coach Tony Graystone. "Commerce had great defense. Melissa was great offensively and Ashley Dyer had her best match of the season with her solid blocking."

The Lady Buffs are back on the road next weekend for more conference action, beginning with Central Oklahoma on Thursday, Oct. 16 at 7:00 p.m., followed by Southwestern Oklahoma at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18.  WT will then face Lubbock Christian, in Lubbock, Texas, on Monday, Oct. 20 at 7:00 p.m. CDT.
