KEARNEY, Neb. - The third-ranked Truman volleyball squad bounced back from their first loss of the season with a pair of 3-0 victories on Saturday to wrap up the UNK Classic. Truman now sports a 7-1 overall record after the first two weekends of competition.

The Bulldogs opened play Saturday by hitting .347 as a team and seeing six players tally at least five kills in a 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-23) win against Upper Iowa University.

Later in the afternoon, Truman routed Chadron (Neb.) State 3-0 - taking each game by 25-12 scores and outhitting the Eagles .365 to -.013. The Bulldogs committed just 12 errors in the match and were hitting better than .500 throughout most of the first two sets.

Junior Jenna Novelli (Lancaster, Calif.; Paracelete (LA Pierce CC)) totaled 19 kills between the two matches, while seniors Eli Medina (Kansas City, Mo.; St. Teresa's Academy) and Melissa Keck (Belleville, Ill.; Belleville) didn't commit a single error and combined for 21 kills during Saturday's play.

Novelli also finished with a match-high 14 digs against Upper Iowa before senior libero Whitney Boehler (Olathe, Kan.; Olathe East) took top honors against Chadron State with 12.

Truman will travel to St. Paul, Minnesota next weekend for the Concordia-St. Paul Classic on Friday and Saturday. The Bulldogs will battle Concordia - last season's National Champion and current co-holder of the No. 3 spot in the top-25 poll with Truman - on Friday evening at 7:30 pm.

The Bulldogs won't see a single regional opponent next weekend, as the purple and white will also take on nationally-ranked Southwest Minnesota State, Alaska-Anchorage and Central Washington in the Classic.
