No. 1 Emory Tops Brandeis at UAA Championships
SAINT LOUIS, Mo. - The No. 1-ranked Emory University volleyball team closed out the opening day of the University Athletic Association Championships with a decisive 3-0 triumph over Brandeis University. The Eagles raised their record to 29-5 (9-0 UAA) following a 25-15, 25-10, 25-14 over the Judges. This year's event is being held in Saint Louis and hosted by Washington University.
Senior middle Dani Huffman (San Diego, CA) and freshman Alexandra Wright (Matteson, IL) each tallied a team-high six kills while senior Maggie Baird (San Antonio, TX) and junior Alysse Meyer (Stockton, CA) each chipped in five terminations.
Freshman Brannan O'Neill (Houston, TX) and sophomore Kelsey Krzyston (Noblesville, IN) registered 13 and 10 digs, respectively, and freshman Natalie Schonefeld recorded out 30 assists.
The victory over Brandeis enabled Emory head coach Jenny McDowell to claim her 400th career win. Now in her 13th season as the Eagles' head coach, she claims a record of 400-111.
The Eagles continue play on Saturday with a contest against the University of Chicago starting at 12:30 (EST).
