DIII No. 4 Stevens Defeats Endicott for Sixth Straight Win
BEVERLY, Mass. - Senior outside hitter Tomas Bochicchio landed 14 kills to produce a .444 hitting percentage as the fourth-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology men's volleyball team swept Endicott College Friday night in Beverly, Mass. by the scores of 30-23, 30-22, 30-27. Bochicchio had four blocks and an ace as senior middle blocker Andrew Cranford continues his stellar play after having registered a .533 attacking rating on 15 swings with just two errors. He had 10 kills and four blocks as Stevens stands at 6-0 on the year.
Senior outside hitter Joe Trinsey also tallied 10 kills as he posted a .389 hitting percentage and landed three blocks. Freshman setter Derek Mulvey made his third-career start and connected on 41 assists. He led defensively as well with eight digs.
For Nazareth, junior middle hitter A.J. Witkofsky (Scotia, N.Y.) notched 15 kills and three blocks as junior setter Ben Foster (Penfield, N.Y.) lifted seven digs. Foster also dished out 39 assists for the Gulls (5-4). As a team, the Ducks posted a .330 hitting percentage and totaled nine blocks. Endicott hit .200 as a squad and accumulated seven blocks.
Stevens will return to action on Saturday when it takes on Division I foe Harvard University at 1 p.m. in Cambridge, Mass. Much is at stake for the Ducks as they try to stay unbeaten and revenge a 0-3 loss from last year against the Crimson. Check back tomorrow for results regarding the outcome of the match.
