II. WELCOME

Committee Chair: Brenda Williams

Open to changing the time of the call if we need to.  Every conference is now represented on the HCC.  Several members have rotated off, and their replacements have been named.

III. AVCA UPDATE

AVCA Staff: Will Engle

The 2009 AVCA Spring Conference: 21st Century Coaching Skills registration has been launched on the AVCA Web site - Carl McGown, Terry Pettit, Mary Wise and Beth Launiere are headline presenters, check the AVCA Web site for more information.  Also, seminar recordings from the 2008 AVCA Convention in Omaha are now posted on the AVCA Web site.

IV. AVCA CONVENTION MEETINGS

  • Membership - Make contact with any new coaches in your conference regarding AVCA Membership.
  • Best Practices: Ruth Stein, NAIA national office - NAIA received a lot of feedback regarding opening round and final site of championship. In process of looking at best practices from national office perspective that can be looked at for both opening round and final site. Feedback has been that match schedule has led to "dead legs" of participants.
  • Webcasting & Statistics Education - A break-out group brainstormed for each of these items. More information should be forthcoming.
  • Recognition - The recognition committee is reviewing three proposals from the NAIA VCA. When it comes through, everyone needs to encourage their conference coaches to review and make comments.

V. NEW BUSINESS

      Committee Chair: Brenda Williams

  • Possibility of a new National Letter of Intent Program. There is a committee studying the possibility. Talk to your athletics directors about the possibility and for more information. Provide specific input to Ruth Stein to get to the committee.
  • Help develop educational components of AVCA Convention, as well as NAIA-specific sessions, by getting NAIA coaches to present at convention each year and offering suggestions to the AVCA staff of other ideas for future sessions.

Next HCC Call:  Wednesday, March 4, 2009 TBA
