DIII No. 4 Stevens Dominates Polytechnic in Metro Matchup
BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Junior outside hitter Andrew Fessler lifted the fourth-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology men's volleyball team to its 14th win of the season and fourth in North East Collegiate Volleyball Association Metro play with a dominating three-game sweep of Polytechnic University Friday evening in Brooklyn, N.Y. Fessler produced a .667 hitting percentage on eight kills as the Ducks won 30-9, 30-7, 30-9.
Sophomore outside hitter SteFan PremDas notched six kills and three block assists, while senior middle hitter Wes Eberlin hit .714 on the match with five kills on seven attempts and landed four total blocks. Sophomore Brandt Grobeis and sophomore Aaron Ostrovsky combined for 30 assists as Ostrovsky led with 20 and Grobeis dished out 10 assists. Sophomore outside hitter Bryant DeFranco led defensively with six digs.
The team notched a .567 hitting percentage on 60 swings for 39 kills and just five errors. Stevens out-blocked Polytechnic 11-0. The Ducks will return to action on Wednesday when they host nationally ranked New York University. Stevens defeated the Violets twice this year; first in a four-game go around followed by a sweep of NYU at the Stevens Invite. The Ducks will take on the Violets at 7 p.m. at the Canavan Arena in Hoboken, N.J.
