No. 6 West Texas A&M Defeats Incarnate Word 3-0
SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Lady Buffs (8-2, 0-0 LSC) bounced back quickly from the tough challenges of the previous tournament with a 3-0 sweep of Incarnate Word (4-4, 0-0 Heartland) today at the St. Mary's Classic in San Antonio, Texas, with scores of 25-16, 25-20, and 25-14.
"We played really well," said head coach Tony Graystone. "Our defense was good and I think Sara Contreras had her best match of the season. We also served really tough. The girls had to make a couple of adjustments with travel due to weather, but they were ready and responded well."
Senior Sara Contreras recorded 15 digs in the match to lead the Lady Buffs' solid defense. Junior Laura Prinsen led the team in kills with 12 in 21 attempts for a hitting percentage of .571. WT's serving game was in top form with a team total of eight service aces, led by Katie Rickwartz with three, and two each for both Prinsen and freshman Kayla McKinney.
The Lady Buffs will play back-to-back matches Friday, starting with St. Mary's at 10:00 a.m., followed immediately by St. Edwards at 12:30 p.m.
