Two More Wins in DIII No. 9 Philadelphia Biblical's Victory Column
LANGHORNE, Pa. - Extracting a touch of revenge Saturday, the Crimson Eagles pulled out a 3-2 victory in their first match of the afternoon against Lees-McRae College, outlasting the Bobcats in five sets to reverse last year's 3-2 slipup against the Division II powerhouse.
Game scores were 23-30, 30-18, 30-27, 24-30, 15-12.
Despite allowing the most blunders defensively this season after watching Lees-McCrae collect 10 service aces for the match, the Crimson Eagles combated their service missteps by pumping out 63 kills in the match marking their fifth highest output through 21 outings this year.
PBU also limited the Bobcats to a .187 hitting percentage, making the Crimson Eagles 12-1 on the season when they've managed to limit the opposition to under the .200 mark.
Justin Brubaker surpassed the 20 kill mark for the 10th time this season, finishing with a game high count of 22 to go with 11 digs. Jon Rose posted 17 digs on the defensive side of things and Leo Dueck added 13 kills, 11 digs and four aces. Ben Fuller chipped in with 12 kills and Cory Ermold added 11 kills, six digs, and five block assists.
In PBU's second outing of the day, the Crimson Eagles rolled over divisional rival Stevenson University, pulling out a 30-21, 30-25, 30-21 triumph over the Mustangs. PBU pounded the host squad with their top hitting percentage of the season, connecting at a clip of .393 for the match.
Brubaker finished with 22 kills and nine digs and Dueck added 16 kills and 10 stops defensively.
