Pasadena, Calif. - The University of La Verne volleyball team officially opened defense of its SCIAC crown with a resounding 3-0 sweep over the California Institute of Technology Tuesday night in Pasadena.

Set results were 25-5, 25-12, 25-5.

La Verne, which moved up to fourth in the latest AVCA Division III Poll released earlier in the day, were never threatened in the contest as everyone on the active roster played in at least one set. Head coach Don Flora earned the win as he also celebrated his birthday on Tuesday.

The Leopards (5-0, 1-0 SCIAC) were led by senior opposite Madison Bradley, who collected 6 kills in two sets of action. Fellow senior Brianna Gonzales tallied 3 kills.

La Verne enjoys a week off before resuming action with another road contest next Tuesday against Chapman University.
