LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 13, 2009) - In an economic climate that is causing association event attendance to drop in organizations across the country, the AVCA completed a very successful Spring Conference last weekend in Provo, Utah.  This comes on the heels of its second-largest annual Convention in December.  With attendance of over 125, turnout at the Spring Conference increased by 317% from last year.

"This conference was everything we had hoped it would be," said Kathy DeBoer, AVCA Executive Director. "We had an all-star cast that delivered compelling and thought-provoking material."

Coaches from across the country attended educational sessions by former national championship coaches Carl McGown and Terry Pettit, gold medal coach Hugh McCutcheon, Mary Wise, Beth Launiere and many more.  A diverse schedule provided attendees with 27 educational choices with such topics as marketing, scouting, statistics and drills.

The conference was held in conjunction with the 2009 NCAA Men's Volleyball Championship at Brigham Young University.  Preparations are already being made for the 2010 AVCA Spring Conference at Stanford University in Palo Alto, Calif., site of next year's NCAA Men's Volleyball Championship.

"I'm optimistic about the future of this offering," said DeBoer.  "Stanford will give us a great venue in 2010."
