Stanford's Alix Klineman Named Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week
Alix Klineman, a junior outside hitter for then-No. 11 Stanford University, has been named the Sports Imports/ AVCA Division I National Player of the Week. She earned the award after propelling the Cardinal to victories over two nationally-ranked Pac-10 foes, recording double-doubles in both matches. Klineman started things off for Stanford by drilling 23 kills in a 3-1 win over then-No. 16 UCLA, an outing in which she also collected ten digs and five solo blocks. The two-time AVCA All-American smashed a season-high 24 kills on .357 hitting with 11 digs and a block in Stanford's sweep of then-No. 13 Southern California the following day. For the week, Klineman averaged 6.71 kills, 3.00 digs and 7.57 points per set, while hitting an efficient .310. The Cardinal are coached by John Dunning.
