Colorado Springs, Colo. (Oct. 28, 2009) - Whitney Nilson of Salt Lake Community College (Utah), Parkland College's (Ill.) Jeni Sykes and Colleen Darby of SUNY Delhi (N.Y.) have been named the NJCAA Volleyball Players of the Week.

Division I

Whitney Nilson (Skyline; Salt Lake City, Utah) posted a double-double last week for No. 5 Salt Lake Community College.  The 5'9" outside hitter posted 15 kills and 24 digs against Snow College.  The sophomore also added an assist and two aces in the 3-2 win.

Division II

Jeni Skyes, a Racine, Wisc. native, averaged 9.79 assists per match for Parkland College.  The sophomore setter had a week high 40 assists against previous No. 3 Illinois Central College.  Her second best showing of 31 assists came against previous No. 1 Kishwaukee. Over five matches last week she averaged 1.14 kills and 3.0 digs per match.

Division III

Colleen Darby (Dolgeville; Dolgeville, N.Y.) showed her energy and leadership on the court last week to help SUNY Delhi to it's first ever Mountain Valley Conference Championship. The 5-10" middle hitter posted 11 kills against Fulton-Montgomery and nine kills against Herkimer, along with five blocks.  Her presence on the court and dominating play at the net has led her team to their first ever 20+ win season.
