Nov. 3 - Brittany Snider, a freshman outside hitter for Ashland University, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division II National Player of the Week. She earned the award after racking up two double-doubles during the week's action and leading the Eagles to victories in two Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) South Division matches. She started out the week by smashing 16 kills and adding 20 digs and one assist in a sweep of Wayne State (Mich.), who was receiving votes in the AVCA Division II Coaches Top 25 Poll at the time of the match. She continued her outstanding play in the Eagles' whitewashing of Northwood, hitting at a .391 clip with 19 kills, 12 digs, two blocks, an ace and an assist. For the week, Snider turned in a .373 hitting percentage, while averaging 5.83 kills, 5.33 digs and 6.17 points per set. This is the second time an athlete from Ashland has earned the Sports Imports/AVCA Division II National Player of the Week award, with Beth Dangel last taking home the honor on Nov. 11, 2006. The Eagles are coached by Connie Surowicz.
