AVCA Updates (Jason Jones)

AVCA Convention registration is now open. The convention will be held December 12 - 16 in Louisville, Kentucky. Coaches are encouraged to register by the November 2nd early registration discount deadline in order to save money on their registration package. Convention hotel blocks are currently about 60% full so coaches are encouraged to reserve their rooms within the next couple of weeks to make sure they get into the block. The Two-Year Coaches HCC meeting will be held from 5:30 - 7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 12. More information on hotel rates, registration pricing packages and a preliminary schedule can be found by clicking here

All AVCA member head coaches should have received the annual salary survey during the first week of September. Several reminders will be sent out that will also contain the survey link. Coaches are encouraged to complete the survey as only those that participate will receive the results.

NJCAA Updates

Rick has been in contact with the NJCAA office on the continuing issues with the Presto stat service. There appears to be a programming issue with the software that is in the process of being identified and resolved. Each region has a different way of doing stats which has created some issues as well. Rick will keep the committee updated on the progress of getting these issues fixed.

NWAAC Updates

No update.

CCAA Updates

No update.

General Discussion (Rick Reynolds)

The committee discussed the possibility of having a booth at the AVCA Convention and how to best promote two-year student-athletes. The committee felt a booth would only be effective if it was staffed during exhibit hall hours. Due to various convention activities and commitments during convention week the committee felt getting volunteers to staff the booth would be challenging. After some discussion the committee decided not to have a booth at the convention and would focus their efforts on other promotional options. The AVCA will work with the committee to include a flyer in all registration bags that will provide instructions on how coaches can access information on two-year student-athletes. Rick is going to contact Paula as well as work with the AVCA to identify the best software option for entering player data. In addition, Rick will work with the AVCA on how to distribute that data to coaches.

Rick is working on having a representative from the NCAA on the next call to discuss the two year transfer regulation.

Nominations for the NJCAA Volleyball Coaches Hall of Fame must be submitted by October 1st. Please click here for more information and a nomination form.
