IV. Growing the Game (Becky Schmidt):
a. How do we continue making volleyball a premiere sport, and not just DI volleyball? There are so many schools in DIII - there are people each school can connect with to promote the game in their area.
b. Promoting the D3 experience and finding new ways to market the value and experience athletes will have
a. Find new ways to educate fans in the game.
b. Deb (DePauw) - challenge: we have to grow our own market in our own gyms before we can expect the larger market to grow. Our responsibilities as coaches are growing, BUT staffing is not growing. If there was a specific D3 piece that a marketing committee could put together that would be very beneficial for fans.
c. Create a marketing sub-committee. Also having a D3 rep to sit on the D1 marketing committee.
d. Resource on AVCA site that SID's could go to and cut and paste info into sports programs.
e. Jon (Mt. St. Joe's) - ownership back on athletes. Also have students who are in journalism work in developing sports program.
