The meeting was called to order at approximately 11:40 a.m. ET. (10:40 a.m. CT)

ROLL CALL

Present: Sue Sinclair, Kanoe Bandy, Michael DeHoog, Jayme Frazier, Terry Gamble, Lisa Huntley, Vanessa Schroeder

Absent: Kim Lester, Jane Peterson, Ben Staupe, Mike Trame

I. Welcome and Roll Call

Sue welcomed all attendees to the meeting and a review of those in attendance was made. (See above)

Sue then jumped right into the meeting topics.

II. Convention

There were three topics to discuss in regards to the convention:

* Two-Year College Recruiting Booth and CD

* Convention Agenda

* Panel Discussion

a. Two-Year College Recruiting Booth

Discussion about how the recruiting booth would be run. Also discussion involving Kanoe and how the booth would be manned. Kanoe is working on getting some of the California coaches to come in and man the booth on two-hour intervals.

Final part of this discussion was when to do set up. It was tentatively decided to do set up after the Two-Year committee meeting at the convention (Wed, Dec. 12, between 6-8 p.m.)

During this discussion, Sue mentioned that she was also considering cancelling the first Two-Year General meeting on Thursday, Dec. 13, and only having the one on Friday, Dec. 14. The reason is because the first one overlaps some education sessions that coaches might want to attend. And, since they were able to cover everything in one meeting last year, the Friday session might just be enough.

b. Recruiting Booth CD

Discussion by Terry about the creation of this CD. Terry said that at the NJCAA Tournament, 58 Division I coaches asked for the CD. Terry said that he has 69 school's kids that were AVCA members on the CD. Terry aggress to make 50 CDs for the convention.

Sue - Can Two-Year colleges add a one-sheeter in the back pack about the booth? (Rick asked Mark/Jason - yes. Toby to send info on deadline and where to send it.)

c. Convention Agenda

Sue goes over the past agenda items and asks if the topics still seemed appropriate. Everyone was ok with them. The topics are:

* Intro/Congratulations to winners

* NCAA Rules Representative to speak (Marcia Alterman)

* Report about the TYC Head Coaches committee accomplishments during the year, which includes the booth, CD, panel discussion, web site update, salary survey.

* Awards - Shay Goulding to present how the process works

* Membership - Discuss ways to increase AVCA membership in the TYC ranks

* Salary Survey - Creation of a TYC specific salary survey and some results highlights, if available

* Panel Session - Encourage people to attend.

Sue agrees to circulate an agenda early next week, and the letter that will go in the back packet.

d. Panel Discussion

Sue thinks a separate call is needed to come up with the topics for this. Some of the topics that could be discussed were mentioned in the last conference call. They are:

* Academic side of Two-Year athletes - help dismiss the "academic myths." (Terry)

* What reasons do athletes choose to go to Two-Year colleges first? (Mike)

* Educate four-year coaches on how the Two-Year college athlete can impact their program. Try to give examples, such as Rita Crocket. (Sue also mentioned a player out of Kansas - it might be Sarah Noriega).

* Explain that Two-Year colleges are more than just one big "group" or division. Explain the five different Two-Year college divisions (NJCAA I, II and III, California, and NWAACC.).

Discussion follows as the group begins to put together the topics and a plan for the panel discussion. Mike De Hoog asks if the session will be opened up to a Q&A? Sue says, yes, though she would have topics of discussion to try and get people talking, then open it up for questions.

In the end, Sue agrees that another conference call is not needed. They'll just discuss it via email, and phone if needed.

Kanoe and Jaime ask Rick to please send a list of TYC members, so they can email them and tell them what will be happening at the convention. Also, see if anyone will work in the booth.

Sue asks Rick to please put direct links to the NJCAA Championships on the AVCA TYC web page. (This was completed.)

Meeting adjourned at 12:30 p.m. ET

* TYC Committee Meeting: Wednesday, Dec. 12, 5-6 p.m.

* TYC General Meeting #1: Thursday, Dec. 13, 9-10:30 p.m. (Possibly will be cancelled)

* TYC General Meeting #2: Friday, Dec. 14, 9-10:30 a.m.
