Attend AVCA Convention*
*Minority Coaches Clinic attendees are invited to attend all educational sessions, networking events and meetings. As part of the overall convention schedule, the Minority Coaches Committee (MCC) will be sponsoring two on-court presentations led by University of Virginia Head Coach Lee Maes and TCA Volleyball Club Director Neil Mason. These two presentations will be open to all convention attendees. Workshop attendees may choose to attend these seminars or go to a session of more interest to them during the same time slot.
Per NCAA Grant requirements, eligible attendees must be minority women intent on pursuing volleyball coaching at an NCAA institution as a head or assistant coach. Clinic attendees do not need to currently hold such a position, but must aspire to enter the NCAA collegiate coaching field. In addition, participants must be a first-time attendee of the convention workshop. Previous clinic attendees are welcome to attend but are not eligible for the scholarship. The grant will cover the airfare and hotel expenses for five (5) first-time clinic attendees up to $800. Registration for the clinic and convention are also covered by the grant but attendees would need to purchase match tickets if desired. Prime candidates for this program are college seniors, high school and club coaches looking for college jobs, DII, DIII, NAIA and junior college assistants willing to move to head coaching positions, and DI second assistant and graduate assistants. Minority men are a secondary target for this program.
Returning attendees who would like to participate in the workshop activities should CLICK HERE. Participants should first register for the convention through the regular online or printed registration process. Returning attendees should then complete the printed workshop registration form and return to the AVCA by the deadline indicated. Completing this form will help the AVCA compile accurate numbers for ordering food and planning seating for the sessions.
