Oct. 21 - Karsta Lowe, a senior outside hitter for No. 17 UCLA, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week. The Bruins continued their strong season in 2014 with Lowe leading the way. Last week they picked up another two wins over Pac-12 schools to have a total of five conference wins, which is tied for second-most. Last Wednesday against then-No. 10 Oregon, the California native set a career-high in kills with 33. That total is also the most for a UCLA player since the rally scoring era and just two shy of the UCLA four-set record. She was hardly a one-trick pony, adding five digs and hitting a robust .473. Two days later against Oregon State, she put down another 21 kills and tallied seven more digs, her 11th match this season with at least 20 kills. For the week, she averaged exactly six kills, 6.17 points and 1.33 digs per set.
