Wittenberg takes down No. 1 Team in Nation

Sep. 16- Kara Seidenstricker, a junior right side for No. 9 Wittenberg University, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week. It was a fantastic week for the 2013 AVCA Second-Team All-American playing two top-10 teams en route to earning Wittenberg Fall Classic All-Tournament honors. In their first match of the weekend, the Tigers knocked off No. 1 Calvin in straight sets, with the Ohio native contributing nine kills, seven digs and a .381 hitting percentage. It was Calvin's first loss via a sweep since October 2012. Over the next three matches against Heidelberg, No. 8 Juniata and Ohio Northern, she recorded three double-doubles and never had fewer than 18 kills in a single match. For the week, she averaged 4.00 kills and 3.06 digs per set while hitting .356.

This is the 12th time Wittenberg has garnered Sports Imports/AVCA Player of the Week honors, with the most recent winner coming from Christine Gilene on September 11, 2012. The Tigers are coached by Paco Labrador.
