Kockelman Sets Team to a Pair of Victories

Sep. 30- Taya Kockelman, a senior setter for No. 18 College of Saint Benedict, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week. Kockelman quarterbacked the offense to a pair of victories last week, including a win over No. 24 Augsburg in a sweep. Against those Auggies, she tallied 44 assists with eight kills (.467 hitting) and 11 digs, narrowly missing a triple-double. Later that day in the sweep over St. Catherine, she recorded another 43 assists, four kills and nine digs while leading her team to a robust .376 hitting percentage. The Minnesota native also added a total of four service aces in those two matches.

This is the second time St. Benedict has garnered Sports Imports/AVCA Player of the Week honors, with the other coming from Kayli Schumacher on October 20, 2009. The Blazers are coached by Nicole Hess.
