Meller Torches Opponents for 100+ Kills in Leading Wildcats to Three Wins

March 15 - Ryan Meller, a 5-11 outside hitter for SUNY Institute of Technology has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Men's Division III National Player of the Week. He earned the award for his efforts in leading the Wildcats to three victories last week, en route to landing a spot on the York Invitational All-Tournament team. Meller pounded 111 kills in six matches during the week, which included an impressive 39-kill performance, a new program record, in SUNYIT's four-set win over New York City College of Technology. He also recorded two double-doubles on the week, one coming in the City Tech match and the other in a sweep of Stevenson, where he totaled 17 kills and 11 digs. For the week, Meller averaged 5.55 kills per frame, nearly 1.50 kills above his season average, and also contributed 2.15 digs and 6.08 points per game.  This marks first time a Wildcat athlete has been awarded Sports Imports/AVCA Men's Division III National Player of the Week accolades.
