AVCA Coaches Mentoring Program

UPDATE:

Please read this carefully if you applied or are interested in participating.

Due to some technical issues, we are unable to access the applications that you previous completed to participate in the program. We are truly sorry for any inconvenience this causes. Because this is such an important and popular program to our member coaches, we have created a new, more reliable, survey to collect your applications.

If you already applied to the Mentoring Program, or are interested in applying, please complete the survey that was emailed to all AVCA members or email emily.andrews@avca.org if you did not receive it.

The new registration period for the 2013-14 AVCA Coaches Mentoring Program is now open. Applications will be accepted until Monday, August 26 at 5:00pm Eastern Time.

Become a Mentee:

As the number of AVCA mentors is limited, mentees will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. All mentee applications received that exceed the number of available mentors will be placed on a waiting list and not guaranteed a mentor.

Become a Mentor:

The AVCA is always looking to add new mentors to the program. As the amount of interested mentees increases, new mentors are needed to accommodate as many mentees as possible. If you are an active AVCA member, and are interested in sharing your time and talents with fellow coaches please apply as a mentor.

Please note: To participate in the AVCA Coaches Mentoring Program, you must currently have an active AVCA membership. For more information on the program and its requirements, click here.

Please contact Emily Andrews at emily.andrews@avca.org with any questions.

About the AVCA Coaches Mentoring Program:

The AVCA Coaches Mentoring Program was launched in Fall 2010. This program has been developed to allow experienced coaches to share their knowledge and talents with fellow coaches in the volleyball community. The AVCA hopes to present mentees with an opportunity for career and personal growth while offering mentors an outlet through which to provide guidance.

Coaches with an active AVCA membership are eligible to participate in the program. Once the registration period has closed, the AVCA will match people according to similar areas of interest. The AVCA recommends that pairs communicate briefly once a week during the official mentor/mentee year-long relationship.

For those participants attending the 2012 AVCA Annual Convention in Louisville, Kentucky, an AVCA Coaches Mentoring Program Reception will be held to allow the mentors and mentees a chance to meet early in the Convention week. The AVCA encourages the mentee to "shadow" the mentor for a day during Convention, and/or join them for events, such as the banquets or NCAA matches.
