Per NCAA Grant requirements, eligible applicants for the 2012 AVCA/Minority Coaches Scholarship must be minority women intent on pursuing volleyball coaching at an NCAA institution as a head or assistant coach. Workshop attendees do not need to currently hold such a position, but must aspire to enter the NCAA collegiate coaching field. In addition, participants must be a first-time attendee of the convention workshop. Previous workshop attendees are welcome to attend the networking event but are not eligible for the scholarship. Proceeds from the grant plus matching funds from the NCAA will be used to support Convention attendance for the scholarship recipients. The total amount awarded to each recipient will be determind upon notification of the award amount to the AVCA. Prime candidates for this program are college seniors, high school and club coaches looking for college jobs, DII, DIII, NAIA and junior college assistants willing to move to head coaching positions, and DI second assistant and graduate assistants. Minority men are a secondary target for this program.
