More Coaching Education
This year the AVCA is offering more coaching educational sessions than ever before. The convention schedule will include 80 on-court, sand and classroom seminars with topics ranging from new drill ideas and coaching strategy to sports psychology and injury prevention. Whether you coach college, high school or club the AVCA has sessions developed specifically for you. A third volleyball court has been added to the exhibit hall this year to provide an opportunity for more on-court training sessions. Be sure to take advantage of all the educational offerings available to make yourself a better coach and leader.
Opening Night Party at the Muhammad Ali Center
Kick-off your convention week on Wednesday, December 12 at the Opening Night Party in the Muhammad Ali Center. The Ali Center is not a boxing museum but a series of award-winning exhibits, video clips and memorabilia that focus on the six prevailing core values of Ali's life - respect, confidence, conviction, dedication, giving and spirituality. Don't miss the opportunity to shadow box with Ali, test your skills on the speed bag or feel the punch of a heavyweight champion while holding the heavy bag. Ground transportation to/from the Ali Center will be provided and an open bar with heavy hors d'oeuvres will be available.
AVCA Victory Club Recognition Breakfast
It's a tradition at the AVCA Convention to recognize the stars in our sport and back again on this year's convention schedule is a celebration dedicated to the recipients of the AVCA Victory Club Award. The Victory Club Award was created to honor AVCA member head coaches who have reached milestone victories at their current level of coaching. Join us for a continental breakfast buffet on Friday morning, December 14 in the Marriott Ballroom prior to the Super Session as we celebrate this year's AVCA Victory Club Award honorees.
AVCA Semifinal Matches Tailgate Party
Get ready for a great night of volleyball at the Semifinal Matches Tailgate Party in the Marriott Ballroom! Join your coaching peers for drinks at this networking event scheduled prior to the NCAA semifinal matches on Thursday evening, December 13.
Invitation Only Student-Athlete Participants in NCSA/AVCA Fall Girls Talent Showcase
Due to the popularity of the Talent Showcase among student-athletes the AVCA is implementing a more selective process among those eligible to participate in the event. This year participation in the showcase will be invitation only and student-athletes will need to meet a minimum set of standards in order to receive an invitation. The Talent Showcase will be held in the Kentucky International Convention Center on Sunday, December 16. There will be three waves of participants with the first wave beginning at 8:30 a.m. and the final wave concluding at 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
AVCA Convention Charity
The volleyball community is well known for their generosity and support of local and national charitable causes. Last the year the AVCA raised over $2,000 through the Under Armour 5K Fun Run to support the Wounded Warrior Project. The AVCA is asking convention attendees to continue those efforts in Louisville. Join the fight against breast cancer by making a donation to the Side Out Foundation. During the convention registration process attendees will have an opportunity to add $1, $5, $10 or more to your convention registration total. All donations go directly to supporting Side Out Foundation research and educational programs. Each person that makes a tax-deducible donation will receive a Side Out Foundation wristband to show their support of this important cause.
