Division III Men’s Coach of the Year
TOM PETERSON, SOUTHERN VIRGINIA UNIVERSITY
- Peterson has made his ninth season as Southern Virginia’s men’s volleyball coach a memorable one.
- His team won the CVC regular-season title and conference tournament and enters the semifinals of the NCAA Championship at 33-1.
- Those 33 wins are the most in program history.
- The Knights opened the season by winning their first 24 matches, and they didn’t drop a set until March 27.
- After last weekend’s NCAA regional, he has earned 187 victories at Southern Virginia.
- Over the past two seasons, he has coached five Division III first- or second-team All-Americans.
- During his illustrious career, Peterson has amassed more than 500 wins, and he has led two teams to NCAA Division I national championships.

Division III Men’s Assistant Coach of the Year
BRANDIN McDONOUGH, JUNIATA COLLEGE
- McDonough is in his sixth season as an assistant coach with Juniata College.
- The Eagles advanced to the semifinals of the 2025 NCAA Division III Championship.
- Following the NCAA regional, the team is 31-4 and has been ranked in the top 7 of every AVCA DIII Poll this season.
- McDonough helped two players from this year’s squad earn AVCA second-team All-America honors.
- The Eagles have amassed a 129-39 record during his time as an assistant.
